Parenting : Control yourself, not your kids!

Image
Life gives us a chance to become a better version of ourselves when we are parents. Parenthood is a journey filled with learning and progress for both parents and children. Its an oppurtunity to reflect on ourselves and be the best we can be for the little eyes that are watching. If we, adults can't control ourselves, it's absurd to expect it from our little ones. For them every small emotion is new, big and overwhelming! Lets together help mould our little ones by first being good examples. Bear in mind, they learn better from what they see and hear. Even in your toughest time, remember to control your thoughts and beliefs; behaviour and speech; habits and attitude ;anger and fear; Don't control their imagination and curiosity; emotions and feelings, just DON'T! Your children will become who you are; so be who you want them to be. Lets embrace our own imperfections and work on ourselves and grant our children a chance of a meaningful childhood .

Toddler activity: Painting

Image
PAINTING is by far, the most engaging activity for lil T, so engaging that amma can finally sneak away to answer nature's call (phew, what a relief!),so painting is now officially in my "mom's survival kit", mummies you should definitely try this! Painting is a great messy play for toddlers and its just so much FUN, so fun,I don't mind cleaning up. Painting is much more than just a simple activity,it contributes in multiple aspects of a child's development(cognitive, emotional and sensory). It helps develop their fine motor skills (grasping, holding brush), improves hand eye coordination, stimulates brain and sensory development( colors, texture), sparks creativity, build up their imagination and self expression. Painting gives the sense of freedom toddlers yearns for, giving them space to build self confidence without following any strict rules or guidelines. It could be therapeutic as well, allowing them to express their emotions. It can be a great bonding ...

Amma's note: Dear Mom, you are not a Failure!

Image
Have you ever felt like a failure? Despite juggling between work, home and kid(s); some days just makes me feel like a loser.( I blame the hormones). It feels like no matter what you do its never enough (or done to my satisfaction). Some days I feel like I've won and conquered it all and then there are days I just can't pick myself up, I get home exhausted or get to work lethargic, uhh the struggle is real. But let me remind you and me, no matter how incompetent you feel, you are doing a tremendous job, each of your efforts count and you make a significant difference in the lives of your loved ones! Its okay to feel low, take some time to deal with it and gently pick yourself up and be ready to roll. Remember, you matter, everything else(the dirty laundry, dishes and emails) can wait! Take a nap,a long shower, a hearty meal, just anything to your delight. Tomorrow is another day and I hope we shine through!
